Funka develops website for neurodiverse children and youth
Attention is an interest organisation for people with neuropsychiatric disorders, relatives and professionals. The association is now launching a website for meaningful leisure, which Funka has had the pleasure to design and develop.
To give municipalities support in reducing young people's exclusion, Attention focuses on meaningful leisure time. Less young people are involved in sports or other leisure activities these days. It risks leading to increased costs for society and decreasing health among individuals.
In a three year project called Sport for All, the organisation has gathered knowledge and good examples of sports and leisure for young people. In particular, the focus has been on children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric disabilities, being able to participate in sports activities and associations.
What we have found in the project is that the municipalities need to work strategically in a much better way in collaboration with different actors, including the sports clubs, ”says Lena Lindahl, project manager for Sports for All. This has to do with children's human rights, that everyone should be included - which is the responsibility of the municipalities!
The needs of support, knowledge and inclusive treatment needed for neurodiverse children are similar to the needs of most vulnerable groups, such as unaccompanied youn imigrants, families with mental illness or socio-economic challenges.
Our mission was to create a simple and easy-to-use website, says Lars Samuelsson, accessibility expert at Funka who led the work on the assignment. It is an important site that we hope many will make use of.
On the website, which is built on Wordpress, there are tips and recommendations for municipalities, associations and individuals.
