EIP on AHA in line with the WHO 2030 Decade for AHA: 10 upcoming years of concerted, catalytic, sustained collaboration

A decade in Healthy ageing 2020-2030 refers to the second action plan of the WHO Globla Strategy on Ageing and Health consisting in a of sustained, catalystic, concerted collaboration.

As specified by the WHO, « The Decade of Healthy Ageing (2020-2030)” is an opportunity to bring together governments, civil society, international agencies, professionals, academia, the media, and the private sector for ten years of concerted, catalytic and collaborative action to improve the lives of older people, their families, and the communities in which they live.”

The WHO proposal presents its items as follows:

  • Need for concerted, sustained action
  • Vision, principles and added values
  • Areas for actions
  • Partnership for change
  • Understanding and measuring success for change
  • Making it work

The quadruple helix of the Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing are an opportunity to operationalise the Decade by implementing a lifecourse approach that is based upon the set up and exchange of innovative, validated good practices. The Reference Site Collaborative Network is an open community of engaged peers that consider active and healthy ageing a lifecourse commitment that can become an opportunity for sustainable development rather than a burden on society. The RSCN aspires to build a dynamic, and continuously growing collaborative environment, supporting partners in the digital transformation of health and care, the establishment of connections between Reference Sites, as well as with and across the thematic Actions Groups (AG) of the EIP on AHA.

RSCN and AGs endorse the WHO proposal for a Decade of Healthy Ageing and commit to contributing to the creation and implementation of policies that benefit older populations, fighting against ageism and look forward to working with WHO in achieving health equity for all.
