The RSCN is already involved in four EU projects and recently two new ones will start: GATEKEEPER (Smart Living Homes - Whole interventions demonstrator for people at health and social risks) and the new EIT Health Project callled HeaLIQs4Cities.

The RSCN is currently involved in 4 EU projects: VIGOUR (Evidence-Based Guidance to Scale-up Integrated Care in Europe), EURIPHI (EURopean wide Innovative Procurement of Health Innovation), DigitalHealthEurope (Support to a Digital Health and Care Innovation initiative in the context of Digital Single Market strategy), and WE4AHA (Support for large scale uptake of Digital Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing), the RSCN being represented in the project by the Federico II University Hospital as Managing Authority of the Regione Campania Reference Site).

Furthermore, we are delighted to inform you that the RSCN is involved in the new awarded project GATEKEEPER (Smart Living Homes - Whole interventions demonstrator for people at health and social risks)!. GATEKEEPER is planned to start July 2019. The main objective of the Project is to create a GATEKEEPER, that connects healthcare providers, businesses, entrepreneurs, elderly citizens and the communities they live in, in order to originate an open, trust-based arena for matching ideas, technologies, user needs and processes, aimed at ensuring healthier independent lives for the ageing populations. By 2022, GATEKEEPER will be embodied in an open source, European, standard-based, interoperable and secure framework available to all developers, for creating combined digital solutions for personalised early detection and interventions that (i) harness the next generation of healthcare and wellness innovations; (ii) cover the whole care continuum for elderly citizens, including primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, chronic diseases and co-morbidities; (iii) straightforwardly fit “by design” with European regulations, on data protection, consumer protection and patient protection (iv) are subjected to trustable certification processes; (iv) support value generation through the deployment of advanced business models based on the VBHC paradigm. GATEKEEPER will demonstrate its value by scaling up, during a 42-months work plan, towards the deployment of solutions that will involve ca 40.000 elderly citizens, supply and demand side (authorities, institutions, companies, associations, academies) in 8 regional communities, from 7 EU member states.

Finally, the last but not the least, through its representative partner of University of Coimbra, and involving three RS – Ageing@Coimbra, Andalusia, Northern Netherlands, the RSCN is involved in a new EIT Health Project HeaLIQs4Cities. HeaLIQs brings health education to the public by stimulating interaction between citizens, local academia, healthcare SMEs and government, in the “Healthy Living Room”, an open forum for learning and discussion focused on a healthy lifestyle. In 2019, the Healthy Living Room will be moved inside a bus, so that it can reach citizens in rural areas and other neighbourhoods with low health literacy.
