Why is it important to train in digital accessibility?

One major reason is that in the summer of 2025, a new law on accessibility will enter into force in Sweden. The law means that companies must now ensure that their websites, products and services are accessible to all customers. For public sector organisations, legislation is already in place and additional rules govern what applies internationally.

Knowledge of accessibility also brings business benefits - companies and organisations reach a wider customer base.

Overview

Accessibility for Editors is a comprehensive course package comprising 13 highly relevant digital accessibility courses. Courses that are based on your role and skills needs.

You get access to Funka's recorded courses for 6 months - choose what and when you want to study. You can add live lectures and workshops that further develop and deepen your competence.

For whom?

Accessibility for Editors is aimed at those who work as digital editors,
content manager, copywriter, webmaster or communicator; in the public sector, an organisation or a company. You need skills in your role to achieve accessible communication goals and to fulfil legal requirements regarding accessibility.

You are likely to want to develop your and your organisation's internal skills in creating and publishing accessible communications, thereby reducing reliance on external consultants.

No prior knowledge of accessibility is required as the introductory courses are included in the package.

How are the courses delivered?

All courses included in the package are delivered using Funka Learning Voyage - our three-step pedagogical model; knowledge base through recorded training films followed by in-depth lectures and practical workshops.

Self-paced courses on-demand

Funka Academy's recorded courses are for those who want broad basic knowledge in accessibility close at hand. You get a basic overview but also the opportunity to focus on selected areas that you have a particular need for.

You can take part in the courses on-demand when it suits you, you get access to them immediately after registration. Each course consists of training films that are divided into chapters to make it easier for you to familiarise yourself with the content. You can also use the courses as a knowledge bank; the search function makes it easy to find what you need.

Add lectures and workshops

Do you want to further enhance your theoretical and practical skills? Maybe you have, or are about to enter, a role where deeper knowledge of accessibility is necessary? Or you simply believe that you learn best and most from teacher-led teaching, application and practice.

For you, we offer complementary one-day sessions as a continuation and extension of the recorded basic courses.

The course days consist of a lecture in the morning and a workshop after lunch. The lectures provide broadening and deepening of skills, the afternoon workshop includes application, discussion and practical exercises.

Key facts:

• 13 course days, each day consists of a lecture at 09:00-12:00 and a workshop at 13:00-16:00.
• The course days are spread over three to four months, approximately one day a week. A link to the schedule for each course start date can be found below.
• Funka's subject matter experts lead the sessions.
  The course days are given live online via Zoom.

Many starting dates

For those who choose live course days, we offer up to five start dates per half year. This gives you maximum freedom of choice based on your work and life situation.

After the course package

Once you have completed all the courses in the package, you will receive a digital training certificate showing that you have participated and the scope and content of the course package.

You will have continued access to the recorded courses including materials and knowledge bank for 6 months from the date of order.
